Thalia is a receptionist and a legal assistant for Aqrawi & Associates Law Firm.
Thalia is from McAllen, TX, in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley. She handles all the firms phone calls, office scheduling and various administrative duties. She also assists attorneys and case managers with their work. Thalia is a bilingual that can assist our clients in both Spanish and English.
Mario Trevino is a paralegal for Aqrawi & Associates Law Firm. His duties include case intake, gathering documents, writing demands, accident reconstruction and litigation investigations. Mario’s current focus is on collecting medical bills, confirming treatment and preparing Demands in preparation of sending the documents to the insurance company in order to begin the negotiation phase.
Mario grew up in South Texas in the beautiful city of Laredo, TX before graduating from the Universidad de Monterrey, Mexico with a Bachelors in Political Science. He also graduated from St. Edward’s University with a Bachelors in Finance.
Mr. Trevino has over 15 years in the legal field. He began in his legal career in 1998 as delinquent property tax collections call center agent before being promoted to area manager. His career continued with two of the largest governmental collections law firms in the state of Texas and soon became very interested in world of personal injury law. He has worked several years in the personal injury industry and loves the challenge of this type of law. He has previous experience in the mortgage and insurance industry and is a licensed life and health insurance agent. His most enjoys spending time with his two young children and playing golf.
Nathalie S. Galindo is a paralegal whose first introduction to law was in 1989 when she was offered a job with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. After one year she was totally in love and knew that this is where she wanted to be and pursued a career in legal field. Over the years she took on other legal related positions such as civil, criminal, elder law and family law. She would go on to excel in personal injury, which is what she knew and loved – she thrived in the legal world. She is a California girl as she was raised in the sunny state of California. She recently moved to the great State of Texas to begin a new adventure with her family. She currently serves as a paralegal at the prestigious firm of Aqrawi & Associates. She manages all personal injury cases in all phases and manages all cases starting with having constant contact with all clients, resolving property damage and most importantly settling and helping others in need as much as she can.
Nathalie is all about family and is a highly devoted mother and wife but more than anything in the world loves spending time with her husband of 25 years and her 22 and 24-year-old Sons, Nathan and Michael. Nathalie loves to cook and enjoys spending her spare time in her garden and with the entire family, including her work family. She is a treasure to have as a splendid addition to the Aqrawi & Associates team.
Lamis is a paralegal for Aqrawi & Associates Law Firm. Her main role at the firm is handling immigration cases. She is a highly experienced immigration paralegal and familiar with immigration process and petitions. She has handled a variety of immigration cases such as asylum, business, marriage, etc. Also, she manages the medical record department at the firm. Lamis speaks fluent English and Arabic.
Lamis has earned a bachelor’s degree in Law from Al Mustansirya University in Iraq. Also, she has received another BA in English Literature from Baghdad University.
Previously, Lamis worked at the Iraqi Ministry of Justice in coordination with the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad to work in the transition mission development of the Iraqi jail system to improve its standards to international human rights standards. She also worked with the US Department of Justice and assisted with administrative work.
Mohammed is a paralegal with Aqrawi & Associates Law Firm. He has handled heavy caseloads, assisted with all phases of personal injury practice and all aspects of legal work including, factual investigation, medical record review and document management. He also handles a lot of the firm’s negotiations with insurance company. Mohammed assists with immigration law, family law and criminal law. Mohammed also manages Social Media accounts and public relation work for the firm.
Mohammed received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Houston. He has also completed a minor in Public Relations from the School of Communication. He also completed a Minor in Leadership Studies and earned a certificate in International Studies and Research from the University of Houston Honors College.
Mohammed is an experienced public speaker and negotiator. Mohammed was distinguished for his participation in many local and international speaking and debate tournaments with UH Debate Team, Model Arab League, Model United Nation and Model G-20. Previously, Mohammed worked at the Houston Mayor’s Office of Trade of International Affairs as a Protocol Officer.
Mr. Lee graduated with a Juris Doctor from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
Mr. Aiken was born in Indianapolis, IN but has lived in over four different states and six different cities. This varied background has been of aid when he frequently consults on cases with attorneys from a myriad of jurisdictions. Mr. Aiken graduated from Indiana University with a double major in Economics and Political Science. Mr. Aiken then moved to Houston and graduated cum laud from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law with a Juris Doctor.
Upon graduating Mr. Aiken opened up his own firm alongside his classmate Walat Aqrawi. Together, Mr. Aiken and Mr. Aqrawi have built their practice to the point they were able to open a satellite office in Erbil, located in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq. Their firm is starting on its fifth year in 2020, and has successfully served hundreds of clients in cases ranging from Personal Injury to Immigration to Criminal Defense. Mr. Aiken is well experienced in Employment based and Family based immigration law. In addition, Mr. Aiken has consulted on questions of Immigration consequences in criminal cases in no less than nineteen different states.
Keivan Shahabi (Romero)* was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003, where he majored in Finance. He received his Masters with a Concentration in Finance from the University of Illinois in 2005 and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence, with a Business Law Certificate, from the University of Maryland Francis King Carrey School of Law in 2013. While studying at the University of Maryland Mr. Shahabi was a member of the Business Law Society and Latino Law Student Association where he was an officer. Mr. Romero has been licensed to practice in Texas since 2013.
Before his legal career Mr. Shahabi worked for large insurance companies, CNA and Liberty Mutual. After spending five years working for insurance companies he realized he was working against people rather than for them. As an Eagle Scout he was taught to help people and could no longer bear working for companies that seek to disservice people, which created the impetus for going to law school. Using his insurance experience he is able to think like the insurance companies and uses his industry knowledge to help his clients.
Prior to beginning his private legal practice in August of 2016, Mr. Shahabi was an attorney at the prestigious Rad Law Firm in Dallas Texas where he honed his expertise in personal injury case law. Aside from personal injury work Mr. Shahabi has also worked on numerous complex litigation cases included tax cases against the IRS, patent infringement, and construction defect litigation, financial fraud and International Traffic in Arms Regulation cases.
Mr. Shahabi’s practice focuses on personal injury, family law, business law and probate cases but his expertise is in the field of litigation, a true trial lawyer. While he spends most of his time fighting for his clients in court, Mr. Shahabi also serves his clients through his business solutions program where he advises clients on entity formation, operating agreements, and contract drafting.
*Keivan Shahabi (Romero) was born into a Hispanic family who use both his family names. The State Bar of Texas only recognizes his father’s last name and have used their regulations to limit his use of the name “Romero.” You can call him Romero whenever you like.

Walat Aqrawi was born and raised in Texas. His parents migrated to the United States from Iraqi Kurdistan. Since his early childhood Mr. Aqrawi has seen and experienced the difficulty that his fellow Kurdish people have endured and suffered. Therefore, he was inspired to pursue a career in helping others. Mr. Aqrawi attended and graduated from Baptist University majoring in Biology and Chemistry aiming to become a Doctor. Later, Mr. Aqrawi discovered his persuasion and speech skills along with other leadership skills and talent, Mr. Aqrawi decided to change to the legal path to use his talents in helping others.
Walat Aqrawi attended the Thurgood Marshall School of Law to pursue a Juris Doctor Degree. During his Law School, Mr. Aqrawi focused on immigration and international law along with personal injury. He has received a certificate from the Institute for International and Immigration Law. Mr. Aqrawi worked at the office of attorney Daniel Lee and assisted with Family and Immigration cases. He also received Personal Injury and litigation experience from the Law Office of Higdon Lawyers. Mr. Aqrawi is fluent in English, Kurdish (both dialects), Arabic and well versed in Persian and Turkish. He is very passionate of the Kurdish identity and the founder of the Kurdish American Foundation of Houston. He has been involved in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region since Gulf War I. He has traveled back to Kurdistan several times since and has been involved in a variety of business ventures and numerous humanitarian efforts. He has been involved in the Kurdish Community of Houston since 1990. Away from work Mr. Aqrawi enjoy spending time with his family. He is married and has two sons and one daughter.
